Jury selection for Alec Baldwin's manslaughter trial over the 2021 'Rust' shooting begins Tuesday in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

While practicing a cross-draw on the 'Rust' set, Alec Baldwin's Colt .45 fired, fatally striking cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Alec Baldwin, 66, indicted on involuntary manslaughter for Hutchins' death, pleaded not guilty after prosecutors initially dropped the charge.

Baldwin claims he didn't pull the trigger, but an FBI report says the gun couldn't fire without it.

Prosecutors sought to argue Baldwin's responsibility as producer for set safety but were ruled against by Judge Sommers.

Defense attorney Luke Nikas argued that blaming Baldwin as producer for the shooting was prejudicial and should be excluded.

Judge Sommers denied the evidence, citing its probative value outweighed any potential prejudice or confusion for the jury.

Judge allows footage of Baldwin handling the firearm on the "Rust" set into trial evidence, but rules out videos of him yelling at the crew as irrelevant.

Baldwin’s defense team filed motions to dismiss his indictment, but they were denied. Marlowe Sommer also rejected the state’s request to compel testimony from the film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez, during the trial.

Hannah Gutierrez, the film’s armorer, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to 18 months in prison. She appealed her conviction but won’t testify with immunity. Another crew member witnessed the shooting and saw Alec Baldwin pull the trigger.

Footage from the filming of “Rust” showed Alec Baldwin firing a gun after “cut” was called. Prosecutor Kari Morrissey highlighted Baldwin’s conduct and lack of gun safety during her closing argument.
